FAO: jimevans21 - Reasons why the snow has not made us like a Third World Country

"I, like you, was extremely lucky to get home last night as I just about managed to beat the bad weather. I really can't understand why other European countries like Germany get probably twice as much snow as we do and yet still manage to grit, clear the roads and get into work without a problem. It's like we are a third world country!"

  • Our population growth rate has not increased dramatically
  • There has not been a dramatic shift in the population from urban to rural regions.
  • Our use of resources per capita has not dropped dramatically
  • Urban shanty towns have not suddenly appeared
  • Gross National Income per capita remains in the top 15% of all countries in the world.
